Matching thread (or similar colour to the fabric
First of all, you'll need to cut your fabric (Please see sizes above).
Start by cutting the fabric using the provided cutting guidelines above. Ensure that you cut the fabric according to the given measurements. (If you believe the main panel is too large, feel free to measure around your head and cut it to the measurements that suit you).
Take the towelling fabric (main panel) and fold it in half, right sides together. Once the towelling fabric is pinned in place and you've left a 3-inch gap at each end, you can begin sewing. Ensure you leave seam allowance.
You should have a main panel piece that looks like this.
Turn the fabric so it’s showing the good side outwards. Fold the fabric in half and align the sides. See the image below for reference.
Pin the sides in place and begin to sew together leaving enough seam allowance.
Turn the fabric inside out aligning both seams and pinning them in place. Sew along the edges, leaving seam allowance. Leave a gap to turn the fabric right side out.
Refer to the picture for guidance.
Now that you’ve turned the fabric so the right sides are facing outwards place the headband in the middle of your needle and sewing foot.
You will need to sew directly in the middle until you reach the other side. Make sure you leave enough room to thread through two pieces of elastic on each side.
For the bow, take the two squares and sew them together with the right sides facing each other. Leave a gap so the fabric can be turned out to the right way. Leave a gap at the bottom of the center so it can be hidden by the middle section. You will then turn the bow piece inside out to the right sides. You will then have to stitch the gap so they are sealed.
Grab your main panel and start threading the elastic through. Refer to the picture above. You do not need to attatch the bow piece yet but you can. You will just need to ensure that the seam is at the back of the band.
Attach a safety pin to the end of the elastic. Use it to thread the elastic through the headband, gathering the fabric so it appears scrunched up, as shown in the image below.
Center-align the bow on the front of the headband (the seam should be at the back). Do a couple of stitches to attach the bow to the headband; however, make sure you leave enough room for both pieces of elastic to be threaded through.
Sew the Middle Section with your bow and middle section attached,.
Refer to this image. You will need to sew the middle section around the bow piece and the main panel. Make sure there is enough room to turn it over so the seam is not visible.
And voilà, your spa headband is complete and ready for use!
You can also make this without your bow piece.
